poshtots2 Raw & refreshingly honest - the more I listen to this EP, the more I like it. Words don't get anywhere close to describing it; you really do have to listen to it yourself! I cannot wait to see what's next. Please don't make us wait too long for a full album ;-) Favorite track: I Only Meant Well.

about

Vocals and guitar. Improvised and recorded in single takes over one evening, 8th March 2017.

Just a little back story to this EP:

For the past two years, I’ve been trying to encourage Dan to write his own songs as I thought he’s got a lot of creativity in him. He had a mystical book of lyric sketches that he used to mention but I could never persuade him to bring it to recording sessions.

Earlier this year, I started releasing ambient music under the name Smoky and asked Dan if he’d like to create a joint EP as an outlet for some of his lyrics. We set a date in the diary – 8th March 2017.

On the night itself, we turned the lights off in the studio, Dan sat in a corner in the darkness and brought out his book of lyrics and I plugged my guitar into an assortment of effects pedals.

I pressed record to check the sound, I started playing, Dan started singing, and a song called Your Face came out, fully formed. The recording on the EP is the very first thing we did – no rehearsals, no discussion, just a beautiful three-minute piece of late-night ethereal blues.

We sat in silence, marvelling at what we’d just created, and then pressed record again. Ten Days of Unusual Miracles was next, followed by I Only Meant Well and finishing with As The Call, So The Echo.

Absolutely everything was completely improvised and done in one take. In places, you can hear Dan and I trying to guess where each other is going with the melodies and chords! It was a liberating and therapeutic process for both of us.

Put it on your headphones tonight, pour a glass of wine, and I swear your next 18 minutes will be a treat.
